Welcome to
Hebrew Language Department
Mission Statement
East Jerusalem has the largest concentration of Arabs in the Holy Land. Hebrew is widely used in various sectors within Jerusalem, including courts and national insurance, and serves as the primary language of instruction in higher education institutions. This situation poses significant challenges for residents in East Jerusalem, where despite many speaking Hebrew to varying degrees, effective communication with authorities remains a barrier. This often results in residents forfeiting rights that are due to them as full-fledged citizens.
The administration of Frères School believes that teaching a second language from a young age facilitates better internalization of Hebrew, which is essential for residents of East Jerusalem and, particularly, for students. Proficiency in Hebrew paves the way for integration into higher education and social and business life while fostering an understanding of and appreciation for the culture of the other side.
